Liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) have attracted attention as a stimulus-responsive smart material based on programmable molecular orientation and reversible large-strain shape changes due to phase transition of mesogens in the polymer chain. Integration of dynamic covalent chemistry into LCEs can provide more advantages including reprocessing and recycling of smart polymers. In this study, we present strategies to synthesize LCEs with dynamic covalent bonds. In addition, thermal and mechanical characterization of exchangeable LCEs will be discussed.
