Many studies on sustainable and renewable energy have been done in recent years, owing to increased concerns about environmental sustainability and global energy consumption. A triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is an energy harvesting device that converts external mechanical energy generated by friction into electrical energy. In this study, a superhydrophobic TENG device was fabricated using chemical vapor deposition technique. The device has a high transparency due to the controlled thickness of silica nanoparticles contact layer and a high surface charge density due to the applied corona discharge. The surface characteristics and electrical properties of the TENG device were characterized using the scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, voltmeter, and oscilloscope. The developed TENG with a high surface charge density is expected to contribute significantly to wearable devices, sensors, and energy harvesters.
