Carbon dioxide (CO2), an abundant atmospheric gas, has gained increasing attention from both academia and industry because of its potential as a carbon source fuels and chemical feedstock. Carbon capture, utilization, and storage provides a key pathway to address the urgent global need for sustainable chemistry. Herein, polyether and polycarbonate polyols with α,ω-hydroxyl functional groups were successfully synthesized using mesoporous double metal cyanide catalysts. The catalysts exhibited remarkably high activities, produced polyether polyols with low unsaturation levels (0.004–0.010 meq g–1) and narrow dispersity (1.12–1.23), and polycarbonate polyols of high carbonate content (up to 45%).
