Skeletal muscle regeneration with 3D bioprinted constructs of MXene-incorporated hydrogels

Recent advances in 3D bioprinting technology have led to significant research in developing bioinks capable of generating sophisticated muscle tissue with human-like features. A promising material, Ti3C2Tx MXene nanoparticles (NPs), has gained attention for its unique structure and potential for myogenic differentiation. In this study, MXene NPs were successfully integrated into a composite hydrogel (GelMA/HAMA) to create GelMA/HAMA-MXene bioink, enabling myogenesis. The bioink's physicochemical properties were assessed for printability and cell proliferation. Impressively, the 3D printed constructs with MXene NPs induced myogenic differentiation in C2C12 cells without needing additional myogenic promoters. This highlights the versatility of GelMA/HAMA-MXene bioink and its potential in creating muscle tissue mimics effectively.
