The growing concern about plastic and rubber pollution has prompted the development of sustainable polymeric materials and the exploration of substitutes. A bio-derived molecule, lipoic acid, is one of the promising candidates for degradable soft matter owing to its disulfide chemistry along with polymer backbone. Herein, the synthesis and characteristics of poly(lipoic acid)-based soft materials are introduced as well as their degradation behaviors are closely investigated depending on various conditions. By incorporating silver nanowires into the bio-based degradable polymer network, a conductive stretchable electrode was successfully demonstrated. Notably, selective degradation of the polymer allows each organic and inorganic component to be re-utilized.
