Polymers based on lipoic acids are polymerized through disulfide bonds that provide degradability, one of the important benefits of polyisulfides. This property makes lipoic acid polydisulfides potentially recyclable and biodegradable, thus contributing to waste reduction and environmental sustainability. In this study, we devised a fully degradable thermoplastic elastomer by combining Bio-Degradable PLA as a material to impart the hard characteristics of block copolymers and lipoic acid polydisulfides as another polymer component. It was confirmed that bolck copolymer was formed through disulfide bonds between PLA and lipoic acid polydisulfides, and decomposition into monomers was observed through reduction decomposition of lipoic acid polydisulfides. These results demonstrate that lipoic acid polydisulfides has potential in the field of polymer recycling and sustainability, and is promising as a recyclable material.
