Mesogenic Heat Managing Materials with High Thermal Conductivity

To develop smart thermal energy harvesting and reutilization materials, heat managing mesogen(HMM) and thermal conducting reactive mesogen(TCRM) were newly synthesized. Through thermal analyses and scattering results, it was confirmed that HMMs have highly ordered crystal structure and good heat storage capacity. Based on the DSC analyses, phase behavior of mixture was examined by establishing a theoretical phase diagram and HMM-TCRM alloys (HTA) were cured at mesophase state. The thermal conductivity of HTA is 1.38 Wm-1K-1 and heat managing performances of HTA were demonstrated using infrared camera.
