Copper-catalyzed Synthesis of Highly Conductive n-type Organic Semiconductor n-PBDF

Transparent conductors (TCs) play a vital role in displays, solar cells, and emerging printed electronics. Here we report a solution processable n-doped organic conductor from copper-catalyzed cascade reactions in the air, which involves oxidative polymerization and reductive doping in one pot, and discuss the possible defect formation. We confirm that n-PBDF is a solution processable, patternable, and highly conductive n-doped transparent organic conductor with excellent ink stability and thin film durability. We show that n-PBDF can be applicable as transparent conductor and redox electrode in electrochromic devices. This study opens a wide venue for n-PBDF in printed electronics and beyond.
