Various dynamic covalent bonds (DCBs) have been evaluated to construct LCE materials with reprocessability, reprogramming, and self-healing abilities. The LCEs with DCBs (LCEDCBs) can behave as conventional thermosets under typical situations, but their network structure can be reshuffled after activating under heat or light. The disulfide DCBs have been used to design structurally adaptive polymers. Unlike other DCBs, Boron ester bonds can be triggered using heat or water at low temperatures without using a catalyst. This study uses the Boronester DCB to design the Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Elastomer DCB (CLCEDCB) in the form of Fiber capable of operating at low temperature. CLCEDCB Fiber can be glued with water at low temperatures, or can be used as a highly efficient heat-driven mechanochromic, reprogrammable actuator.
