초록

내용
Wrinkling is a fascinating mechanical phenomenon where patterns form on a surface due to mechanical instabilities under external forces. Unlike the conventional paradigm of ordered 1D wrinkles or stochastic 2D wrinkle patterns observed in planar bilayers, curved surfaces give rise to various energetically favorable patterns, such as dimples or buckyball-like structures. In this study, we report on the formation of curvature-induced pattern selection synchronized with hierarchical wrinkles. Hierarchical wrinkles, which primarily occur in the orthogonal direction near the constrained edges, have mainly been studied in planar geometries or systems with small curvature effects. The results of this study shed light on the intricate interplay between curvature-induced effects and hierarchical wrinkles, providing valuable insights for designing and controlling patterns on curved surfaces in diverse applications including brain morphogenesis and artificial skin.
