The interpenetrating network(IPN) hydrogels have demonstrated that high mechanical properties of hydrogels are possible through physical and chemical interaction between polymer networks. In this study, adhesive IPN hydrogels were prepared with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), hyaluronic acid(HA) and DOPA derivative copolymers, which it has interpenetrating network(IPN) using physical crosslinking by freezing-thawing method to improve the physical properties and bio compatibility of DOPA-based hydrogel. The results showed that PVA-HA/DOPA derivative copolymers based on IPN hydrogels were improved the mechanical properties and adhesiveness on the various substrates. More importantly, IPN hydrogels exhibited a porous structure. It could thus be used for the tissue engineering and bio medical applications.
