Strategies for Improving the Efficiency and Stability of Organic Photovoltaics

The recent step change in power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic photovoltaics (OPVs) has been primarily driven by significant advancements in materials and the reduction of performance losses associated with traditional cell architectures. This presentation will discuss our most recent OPV research, focusing on practical strategies for achieving cell performance beyond the state-of-the-art. Firstly, I will describe our use of innovative charge-extracting interlayers and the multitude of benefits offered for deployment in next-generation OPVs. I will then present our latest progress in utilising molecular dopants to enhance the PCE of OPVs and demonstrate how their combination with the aforementioned innovative interlayers can improve material utilisation and device circularity while maintaining high performance.
