A novel process for fabricating an encapsulation film using an epoxy-graphene oxide composite film with calcium oxide moisture absorbent was developed. For better miscibility with epoxy, graphene oxide was modified with a coupling agent. The synthesized calcium oxide nanoparticles (CaO) were mixed with aliphatic epoxy-graphene oxide composite precursor solution. The epoxy-graphene oxide encapsulation film with CaO was coated on a polyethylene terephthalate substrate. Polydimethylsiloxane buffer layer was over-coated on this encapsulation film. Epoxy in the organic-inorganic composite film was crosslinked by mixing intense pulsed light and microwave annealing methods. Calcium test confirmed that insertion of CaO enhanced the barrier property of the composite film. Through this solution base processing technique, it is possible to fabricate an encapsulation film applicable to flexible devices with a low-cost process.
