The developments of lithium-metal batteries (LMBs) with high energy density are highly demanded. However, uncontrolled dendrite growths on lithium metal anodes with inhomogeneous lithium depositions have obstructed the practical applications of LMBs. Here, we report nanofibrillar-based hybrid separators combined with inorganic fillers for dendrite-free LMBs. The hybrid separators present high stabilities with respects to thermal, electrochemical, and mechanical properties, which are beneficial to suppress Li dendrite growths and improve safety of LMBs. Li/Li symmetric cell tests with the hybrid separators show improved cycling stabilities in comparisons to the cell tests with commercial PP/PE separators. These attractive characteristics with facile fabrication methods can be promising approaches for advanced separators for LMBs with high energy density and safety.
