Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) have great potential to convert mechanical motion into electrical energy that can power small electronic devices as well as be used as pressure sensors. A soft but tough and flexible device is required to achieve a deformable device that can be conformably worn and not damaged by body movement. Thus, a hydrogel with stretchable and deformable properties and high conductivity is required for TENG device material. By designing the double network structure, highly deformable hydrogel could be achieved, which is robust against the force given to the TENG device but soft for the conformality on the skin. By adding lithium salts, the hydrogels are modified into highly conductive material to replace the conventional electrode to fabricate a fully flexible TENG device. The device exhibits high power density when used in vertical separation mode and the energy could be stored in a capacitor to power small electronics.
