Recently, Potassium metal batteries have attracted considerable research because of its high energy density and low redox potential. However, uneven dendritic growth in the K metal anode and chemical reactivity of the layered intercalation cathode against the electrolyte solution. Herein, we develop a strategy for improve cycling stability through a dual-functional electrolyte additive containing an electron−rich nitrile group. Thus, the addition of adiponitrile(ADN) additive can formation of a potassiophilic compound in the solid electrolyte interphase, enabling dense K plating. Moreover, ADN could stabilize the cathode interface by mitigating the undesirable deprotonation reaction of transition metals. We generate that addition of ADN can good capacity retention(98.6%) with high Coulombic efficiencies over 50cycles at a high capacity of 4mA cm-2.
