In this research, we carried out the anionic polymerization of A, which has triphenylamine group as hole-transporting moiety. The anionic polymerization of A was performed using sec-BuLi or K-Naph as initiator in THF at -30 ℃ for 10 min. The resulting poly(A)s possesed controlled molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution. The stability of the propagating chain end of poly(A) was confirmed by results of the postpolymerization and block copolymerization. Surprisingly, we observed that thermal annealing at 230 ℃ rendered the film of poly(A) insoluble in toluene. Finally, we applied poly(A) as the hole-transporting layer of OLEDs. Compared to the reference device fabricated with PEDOT:PSS, the device with thermally annealed poly(A) showed a significant increase in OLED performance. These results strongly suggest that poly(A) can be a new option for HTL in OLEDs.
