Plasticizing molecular additives (PMAs) play significant roles as structural modifiers and several types of additives have been reported. However, long π-conjugated backbones are difficult to entangle, which remains a challenge for mechanical deformability. Here, we introduced different PMAs to a DPP-based copolymer to achieve mechanical deformability by reducing the crystalline amounts with controlled Kuhn length, while maintaining electrical performance. Four additives with several functional groups, including carboxyl, ether, ester, and alcohol, were used. We systematically figured out the experimental radius value of the π-conjugated backbone through the relationship between chain planarity and the elastic modulus resulting from intermolecular interaction with the additives. The value obtained through the SANS and FOW experiment was precisely coincidenced with the average radii of the conjugated backbone obtained through DFT calculation.
