With the growing needs for artificial intelligence and interactive devices, there has been much effort to synthesize multifunctional materials. Specifically, fluorophores having ferroelectricity are reported and referred to have ‘Synergistic enhancement of luminescence and ferroelectricity (SELF)’. Here, we report a synergistic enhancement of luminescence and ferroelectricity in a Z-isomer, which was synthesized from a tetraphenylethene derivative, which has clipping moieties. Fluorescence was observed, which is attributed to aggregation induced emission, and ferroelectricity from the assembled structures. Additionally, the fluorescence with high thermal stability enabled us to fabricate the light-emitting device. Compared to previous research with E/Z-mixtures, the device performance is enhanced. Furthermore, Z-isomer recorded high remnant polarization, which was the highest among the known organic fluorophores. The structure and the dual functionality of Z-isomer will be presented along with applications.
