Development of optically transparent hard coatings having both self-healing ability and self-cleaning effects is challgening subject. In this study, optically transparent self healing and self cleaning coatings was fabricated by sequential crosslinking of mixtures consisting of diamine containing dynamic nitrogen-coordinated boronic ester bond, multifunctional acrylates and small amounts of perfluromodified hyperbranched polysiloxane thiol through aza-Michael addition reaction followed by a photopolymerization of acrylates. The as-prepared coatings are optically transparent and have surface hardness of up-to 3H along with fast self-healing ability under mild heating due to effective exchange reaction between boronic ester bonds as well as self-cleaning ability due to predominated fluoro moeity on its surface. It is envisaged that such optically clear hard coatings with self-healing and self-cleaning ability can be used in electronic and optical devices, solar cells, and windshields applications.
