The Viscosity and Processibility of PLA after Blending with Biodegradable Bottlebrush Polymer

Bottlebrush polymer is a type of branch polymer in which side chains are densely grafted onto the main backbone. So, because of this characteristic, the entanglement of the main chain is extremely limited, which is why the bottlebrush polymer has completely different rheological characteristics from the linear polymer. Bottlebrush polymer itself exhibits unique characteristics, and many studies are being conducted on areas requiring rapid phase serperation or self assembly, such as patterning or photonic crystal, but it also shows interesting characteristics when blended with linear polymers. In this study, we synthesized a cellulose based bottlebrush polymer and confirmed what rheological properties the bottlebrush polymer exhibited when blended with the linear polymer and how the melt tension and critical draw ratio changed during the actual extrusion process.
