Chemical Agent Sensitization based on Changes in Polymer’s Physical Properties

Chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are chemical substances that are designed and produced to have direct toxic effects on humans, animals, or plants with the goal of causing fatalities or rendering personnel incapable of carrying out their tasks. Despite the continued use of CWAs in various conflicts throughout the globe, the methods of detecting CWAs still rely heavily on advanced instrumentation which are often cumbersome to operate. In this poster, we present our recent work on the preparation of polymers which can detect a specific class of CWA. The polymer can be readily integrated to sensor devices to achieve light-weight CWA sensor systems.
