Self-Assembly Behavior of Organic Semiconductors on Strained Graphene Template

Graphene has emerged as a promising growth template for facilitating the self-assembly of organic semiconductor thin films (OSCs). However, the impact of strain in the graphene template on the interactions between graphene and organic molecules during the epitaxial growth of organic compounds remains unexplored. Moreover, the strain in graphene gives rise to a pseudo-electric field. Therefore, our study investigates the effects of strain and the strain-induced pseudo-electric field of the graphene template on the self-assembly of organic molecules. Our findings suggest that this strain-induced pseudo-electric field significantly influences the binding energy of organic molecules on the graphene. The study provides valuable insights into the growth of OSC thin films on strained graphene and hold promise for advancing the design and optimization of next -generation flexible organic semiconductor devices.
