A highly flexible optical film with high mechanical properties and optical properties for flexible displays.

A new colorless and transparent optical film based on fluorinated polyamide-imide is prepared utilizing the concept of charge-transfer complex (CTC) intensification. The resulting optical film exhibits a unique supramolecular structure resulting from multiple hydrogen bonding and salt complexation interactions, contributing to CTC intensification. The amount of salt is optimized to control complexation interactions and further enhance mechanical properties. In addition, optimizing the thermal treatment process during film preparation significantly increases the mechanical properties due to tight chain packing. A mechanism for these phenomena is also proposed in this study in terms of the correlation between mechanical properties and the CTC structure.
