Photocrosslinkable Zwitterionic Ligands for Perovskite Nanocrystals: Self-Assembly and High-Resolution Direct Patterning

Perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) are emerging as photoactive materials for a variety of optoelectronic devices. However, weakly bound ligands on the PNC surface reduce colloidal stability and lower film quality. In this study, we introduce a newly developed photocrosslinkable zwitterionic (PZ) ligand. This ligand endows CsPbBr3 PNCs with good colloidal stability, enhanced optical properties, and improved self-assembly propensity while allowing direct patterning. The PZ ligands strongly interact with the PNC surface, replacing the original capping ligands and effectively removing surface defects. In addition, electrostatic interactions between the PZ ligands form densely packed CsPbBr3 PNC films. Furthermore, the methacrylate groups of the PZ ligands also act as bridges for active radical propagation when exposed to UV light, enabling high-resolution direct photopatterning (minimum line spacing: 4 µm). The resulting PNC patterns remain optically stable for more than two weeks.
