The safety of energy storage systems including rechargeable batteries and capacitors has recently become a major concern during the quick spreading of electric vehicles. One of the viable approaches can be applying solid-state electrolytes instead of liquid electrolytes that are prone to catching fire. In addition, the process of energy storage systems requires environmentally non-hazardous materials and/or consumables. On this account, water-processable solid-state electrolytes have been spotlighted but very limited studies have been carried out in terms of all-environmentally-friend component goals. In this presentation, we report our recent efforts on water-processable solid-state electrolytes including hybrid types and resulting lithium polymer supercapacitors (LPSCs).
