Coating polydopamine onto photonic crystals has been recognized to contribute to the suppression of backscattering due to their structural features. However, core-shell nanoparticles present a challenge, as polydopamine coverage on the shell fails to adequately manifest rubbery properties, necessitating physical force for effective mixing. We perceived that this mixing process demands excessive force, and to address this, we introduced a method of incorporating polydopamine into the shell component. Through this approach, the film exhibited vibrant structural colors. The photothermal effect of polydopamine present throughout the film induces a photothermal effect across the entire film. This attribute elevates the temperature of the shell enabling photothermal healing of films. To gauge the healing characteristics of the film, we conducted experiments and COMSOL modeling. Additionally, by harnessing the film's attributes, we pursued various applications, showcasing the diverse potential uses of the developed film.
