The expeditious detection of V-series nerve agents (VX) are crucial given their low volatility and high toxicity. In this work, we present the development of two novel colorimetric thin polymeric films designed to detect VX mimic rapidly and sensitively in contaminated areas. The polymeric films were specifically engineered to include a coordination site for Au (III) ions. The initial stages of the experiment involved the coordination of polymeric films with Au (III), resulting in a discernible alteration in color. In the presence of a mimic of VX, the displacement mechanism of Au (III) occurred within the polymeric film, leading to the restoration of the film's original color, which serves as an indicator of the presence of VX. The polymeric films exhibited remarkable selectivity towards V-series nerve agent compared to G-type nerve agents. The polymeric films showcased their applicability for VX detection in several contaminated areas, including water, soil, and skin.
