Missile-like Artificial Antigen Presenting Nanorods for Cancer Immunotherapy

Cell membrane coating technology is one of the most effective immunotherapies, which can address the limitations of immunotherapy such as low delivery rates, and directly enhance the immune system of the cancer patients. Previous work on immunotherapies has mainly focused on spherical platforms. The non-spherical nanoparticles have reduced nonspecific uptake and improved circulation time compared to the spherical nanoparticles, therefore have excellent therapeutic effect through better targeting ability. Missiles have high aerodynamics, environmental stability and maneuverability due to their shape, which is advantageous for transportation and stable flight. Inspired by this, we investigated the efficacy of immunotherapy by fabricating dendritic cell membrane-based biomimetic nanoparticles using missile-shaped nanoparticles. Missile-like artificial antigen presenting nanorods are expected to have excellent therapeutic effects according to the reduction of non-specific cellular uptake and high T cell activation efficacy.
