Spin-polarized photocatalytic CO<sub>2</sub> reduction of magnetic halide perovskite nanocrystals

Colloidal halide perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) have emerged as a promising material for photocatalytic reaction, in addition to the enormous attention focused on optoelectronics such as photovoltaics and light-emitting diodes due to long charge carrier lifetime and narrow bandgap. To improve the photocatalytic activity toward CO2 reduction, ‘spin’ selection through spin-polarization on intrinsic magnetic property has been described as a way to promote suppression of charge recombination. Here, we report magnetic metal doped CsPbBr3 PNCs to boost the photocatalytic CO2 reduction by promoting spin polarization under external magnetic field. Magnetic CsPbBr3 shown 48.47 μmol g-1 h-1 CO production rate which is 2.24 times higher CO2 reduction than control sample under 400 mT magnetic field. These results provide a simple path toward boosting photocatalytic activity by spin polarization under external magnetic field.
