For more than two decades, a variety of fused-heteroatom-based semiconducting polymers have been actively synthesized for use in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) and photovoltaics such as organic solar cells (OPVs) as active layers and perovskite (PerSC) or colloidal quantum dots solar cells (CQDSC) as hole transporting layers. Although their performances are greatly improved due to the numerous synthetic chemists’ efforts the use of toxic solvents to make homogeneous solution of polymers still remains as a big issue to realize commercialization in this field. In this presentation, I would like to talk a design strategy for green solvent processable semiconducting polymers and how to improve thermal stability of solar cells (e.g., origin of the burn-in-loss) and perovskites (e.g., suppressing decomposition, lead-toxicity etc.) under an extreme condition.
