Nuclear power plays an important role as an intermediate point on the way to a low-carbon energy system. Despite the sufficient amounts of uranium in seawater, it was not effectively used because of the high cost. This investigation aims to improve the adsorption performance for the extraction of uranium from seawater. Polyacrylonitrile nanofiber web was prepared by electrospinning for a high specific surface area, and then cyano groups were converted to amidoxime groups by a heterogeneous reaction with hydroxylamine. The adsorption experiment to identify adsorption capacity and efficiency was conducted with the amount of adsorbent, initial concentration, adsorption time, and pH. Through data processing based on the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order kinetic models, Langmuir and Freundlich models, the adsorption behavior was investigated. Simulated seawater experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of competing ions and low uranium concentration.
