Polymeric materials have been extensively investigated for delivering bioactive molecules in various biomedical applications. It is crucial to select the right material and engineer it appropriately to attain the desired properties as delivery systems. The first part of the presentation will focus on engineering hyaluronic acid, a natural polymer, for drug delivery. Hyaluronic acid has been developed into various polymeric drug delivery systems, such as self-assembling nanoparticles, drug conjugates, and medical patches. These systems could efficiently deliver bioactive molecules to the target tissues, ensuring high therapeutic efficiency. The second part will introduce synthetic polymersomes, which function as artificial organelles in cells. Polymersomes can serve as functional vesicles in cells by protecting enzymes from the external environment and facilitating the exchange of molecular substrates across the membrane.
