Design of Bottlebrush Copolymer Additives for Tuning the Rheological and Mechanical Properties of Polymer Blends

Bottlebrush polymers (BBPs) have been of significant interest for over two decades due to their unique physical and solution properties. With recent progress in synthetic techniques, their three-dimensional architectures can be precisely controlled with various monomers. We previously demonstrated that BBPs can be used as functional additives in various applications to improve their desired properties by taking advantage of BBP architectures and functionalities. As an example, I will introduce BBPs can be used as viscosity modifiers or effective compatibilizers to tune the rheological and mechanical properties of biodegradable polymer blends.
