Liquid adsorption plays a crucial role in both industrial and environmental applications. While many researchers developed various porous materials for liquid adsorption, there is still a need for find efficient ways enable rapid liquid adsorption. In this study, we proposed two strategies for fast liquid adsorption. We introduced bidirectional freeze casting to control tortuosity of porous adsorbent. The slope change of the PDMS wedge controlled the ice crystal growth by generating dual temperature gradient. This led to a favorable mono-domain structure, facilitating liquid adsorption. DMSO added to the dispersion also increased internal channel width (168 µm) during freezing, enhancing liquid adsorption rate. Additionally, cubic iron oxide nanoparticles (CION) were introduced for magnetic heating, enabling reducing viscosity of liquids that come into contact with them. Combining the mono-domain structure with magnetic heating significantly improved liquid adsorption rates, including in handling high-viscosity liquids.
