Reactive homopolymers and block copolymers serve as versatile precursor materials as their properties can be easily tuned via post-polymerization reactions. The functionalized polymers exhibit rich structures and properties and thus can be utilized in a wide range of applications. We synthesize pentafluorophenyl (PFP) ester based homopolymer, then conduct post-polymerization functionalization to create brush copolymer with both fouling-resistant and fouling-release characteristics. We also synthesize PPFPA-b-polystryene (PPFPA-b-PS) as a reactive block copolymer precursor. In this scenario, varied domain morphologies ranging from lamellae to frustrated lamellae to cylinder can be obtained depending on the side chain density and chain length.
