Biodegradable implantable medical devices can change their characteristics due to physical and chemical effects by the implantation site condition. Changes in characteristics can interfere with the achievement of the purpose of use, so it is necessary to evaluate changes in characteristics. Currently, the evaluation method after implantation has not been specified. So this study established a human similarity condition(artificial saliva) for 3D-printed polycaprolactone medical devices and confirmed changes in the characteristics of medical devices after exposure. As a result, the tensile load(-56%) and molecular weight(-16%) were significantly reduced in the 20-week exposed group compared to before exposure. Based on these results, it is judged that biodegradable implantable medical devices need to be verified by considering the condition of the human implantation site.
