We fabricated an adhesive, self-healable and freestanding ionogels consisting of two types of copolymers with different repeating units having hydrogen bonding acceptor and donor, and an ionic liquid. The synthesized ABA triblock copolymers consisted of IL-phobic A blocks and IL-philic B block. The copolymers form a micelle via IL-phobic interaction, and the micelles interact with each other through hydrogen bonds of corona block. The interaction of the corona blocks is further controlled by the addition of random copolymer having hydrogen bondable counter functionality. The resulting ionogels show decent elasticity, adhesion capability to various materials, and self-healability at room temperature. The ionogels also exhibit adequate conductivity that is enough for certain electrical applications. These results further highlight the potential of the ionogel in a range of applications such as sensors and transistors.
