Polyimides (PIs), a kind of outstanding engineering plastics, have been used in various forms including films, fibers, coatings and composites. Among them, most of existing research on PIs has focused on 2D architectures rather than 3Ds, which limiting their advancement and practical applications. To overcome this limitation, three-dimensional (3D) printing of PIs is attracting extensive attention due to its advantages of low cost, speed, customizable design, and the ability to form high-complexity geometry. In this study, we prepare photosensitive all-aromatic PI precursors by introducing methacrylamide and dithiol compounds as photocrosslinkers, using water as a solvent. After printing through digital light processing (DLP) with a designed pattern, the post thermal treatment is carried out to obtain PI parts. This strategy provides an eco-friendly route to advanced PI materials, with high performance. Therefore, our eco-friendly method is expected to be applied in diverse industries.
