Cholesteric liquid crystals(CLCs) have emerged as optical sensors in the form of stretchable films or fibers, exhibiting mechanochromic properties with reversible responses to physical deformation. However, their limited applications result from significant strain-hysteresis and a low modulus, hindering responsiveness across diverse mechanical loads. To address this, we developed highly elastic and reversible mechanochromic fiber using a core-shell thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)/CLC structure, showcasing a broad color range during uniaxial stretching. By controlling TPU's modulus through carbon black filler, we fabricated three types of TPU/CLC fibers with varying tensile properties and color shift degrees at maximum stress. To meet on-demand mechanochromic requirements, we established a comprehensive database, capturing stress-strain-color shifting behaviors for different fiber moduli. This resource facilitates tailored optimization for diverse applications across various industries.
