Hyper branched polyetherketone-functionalized Multi-walled Carbon Nanotube (Hp-f-MWCNT) were prepared as a new reinforcing additive for Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE). Hp-f-MWCNT were well dispersible in organic solvents, Hp-f-MWCNT/LLDPE nanocomposites were easily prepared using a solution process. The properties of Hp-f-MWCNT/LLDPE nanocomposites were studied according to the content of Hp-f-MWCNT/LLDPE_X (Hp-f-MWCNT loading [X] = 0.5, 1, or 2 wt.%). The characteristics of Hp-f-MWCNT/LLDPE nanocomposites are confirmed using a variety of analytic techniques. Compared to pure LLDPE, the Hp-f-MWCNT/LLDPE nanocomposites showed significantly enhanced mechanical properties (i.e., tensile strength, tensile toughness, and Young’s modulus) and thermal stability. Therefore, considering efficiency, and practicality, Hp-f-MWCNT could become promising candidates for reinforcing additives for LLDPE.
