This study aims to introduce acid-free PEDOT-(PSS) films, thereby enhancing the performance and durability of organic photodetectors. Moreover, the study predicts and enhances the performance for practical applications by elucidating the limiting factors of PPG devices. Acid-free films are synthesized by adding heterocyclic 1,3-diazole (HDZ) to PEDOT-(PSS). This addition weakens the coulombic forces within PEDOT-(PSS) while promoting the formation of hydrogen bonds between HDZ and PSS. This leads to improvements in several properties of PEDOT-(PSS) films, including polymerization, optical bandgap, surface morphology, carrier mobility, and film corrosion. These improved properties significantly enhance the performance of organic photodiodes fabricated from acid-free PEDOT-(PSS) films. Moreover, this single-pixel organic photodiode has also shown for the first time the ability to diagnose blood circulation status and cardiovascular diseases.
