Various methods for achieving sequence-controlled polymers are being studied steadily to synthesize perfect sequence-controlled materials such as DNA and proteins. In this work, we present the cyclic olefin copolymers (COCs) having gradient sequence regulation between norbornene (NB) and methyl vinyl ketone (MVK). In particular, the ketone group in the gradient copolymer chain can provide stable and versatile sequence-controlled polymer platforms as a functional group via quantitative post-polymerization modification depending on the various applications. Herein, the sequence regulated poly(NB-co-MVK) platforms were successfully synthesized and exhibited excellent optical and thermal properties. The structural analysis of obtained COCs were performed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and SEC. Moreover, the quantitative hydrosilylation was successfully occurred to modify the physical properties for optical application, which was confirmed by UV-Vis spectroscopy.
