Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have achieved excellent power conversion efficiency (PCE) through the use of solution-processed formamidinium lead triiodide (FAPbI3) perovskite film. However, the archetypal FAPbI3 perovskite film is susceptible to environmental degradations because it is defect-rich and exhibits poor phase stability. Herein, we spray-deposited alkylammonium halide passivators to form an air-stable low-dimensional perovskite (LDP) capping layer atop the FAPbI3 Film. Our results show that the surface defects and grain boundaries of the FAPbI3 film were reduced following LDP spray deposition. The modified PSC device based on FAPbI3/LDP film exhibited a PCE of ~22.3%, which is significantly higher than the pristine PSC with a PCE ~19.6%. Furthermore, the environmental stability of PSCs also improved due to the presence of hydrophobic LDP moisture barrier. This spray passivation strategy is highly effective in enhancing the efficiency and stability of PSCs.
