Chemical and biosensors across nanoprobes and lap-on-a-chips detecting targets and environmental conditions have been intensively used for real-time monitoring and point-of-care. Responsive materials including polymers and polynucleotides hold great promise as sensor elements due to their fast structural response and tunability. This talk will present several approaches to achieve 1) multifunctionality of nanosensors enabling sensing and therapy in real-time, and 2) selectivity for accurate detection in the physiological conditions by tuning the compositions and structures of polymeric materials. The outlook for translating promising polynucleotide-based sensing platforms into reliable point-of-care diagnostic devices will be discussed.
