Biomimetic moth eye-like patterned (MEP) polymer films with a hexagonal array of micro-domes mimicking natural moth eye were fabricated to extend the application of the anti-reflective moth-eye patterned films. The fabrication was done by pouring a polymer solution on a honeycomb-patterned porous polymer film of a template. Then, the surface of microdome of the MEP film was functionalized by immersing the film in which a reactant for the functionalization is contained into an aqueous solution including a counter reactant of the reactant contained in the film surface. For the functionalization, ferrocene, benzoyl peroxide (BPO), and cadmium chloride, etc. were contained into the polymer film, then the fabricated MEP films were immersed into aqueous solution including AgNO3, aniline, and Na2S (Se, Te) to functionalize the dome surface with Ag nanoparticles, polyaniline, and cadmium chalcogenide. Anti-reflective functionalized films can have potential applications.
