Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have emerged as a promising solution for resolving the safety concerns of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and are suitable for current LIB manufacturing processes. However, the relatively low yield of solution casting and doctor blade methods remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate a simple and effective method to fabricate large area and homogeneous SPE films using ferroelectric polyvinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene (PVDF-TrFE) polymer. The resulting SPE films exhibit uniform thickness throughout the film and high ionic conductivity at room temperature. Compared to conventional solution casting methods, the symmetric Li/Li cell with our SPE shows stable performance and cycle endurance mainly due to the mitigation of dendrite growth. Moreover, the full cell with Li iron phosphate (LFP) cathode exhibits reliable electrochemical performance at room temperature. The 3 × 4 cm2 pouch cell demonstrates reliable performance even after folding and punching.
