Transparent superhydrophobic surfaces have immense potential in various fields, including door glasses, skyscrapers, windows, displays, and solar panels. However, previous methods for creating transparent superhydrophobic surfaces have primarily focused on the coating of glass surfaces, and studies on film surfaces, especially having weathering resistance, have been very rare. In this study, a transparent and colorless polyimide film (PIF) and a nano-silica particles modified with fluorinated oligoimide (NSOI) were prepared, and NSOI was sintered into the surface of PIF to obtain PINSOI. PINSOI exhibited superhydrophobicity, high optical transparency, and excellent mechanical strength. Furthermore, PINSOI had high chemical resistance. Additionally, the PINSOI surface maintained its superhydrophobicity and optical transmittance even after undergoing an accelerated weathering test (ASTM G155-13).
