Heavy metal free quantum dots for display applications

Nanocrystal quantum dots (QDs) emit photons of tunable energies with narrow bandwidth, promising for use in displays and lightings. Pracitical industrial use calls for the development of bright and stable QDs made of heavy metal free elements including Cd or Pb. In this talk, I will present recent advances in heavy metal free QD emitters, specifically InP, ZnSeTe and AgInGaS nanocrystals passivated by ZnSe or ZnS inorganic shells. Optical characteristics in individual or ensemble levels in relation with their structures will be compared and finally their competativeness for display applications will be discussed.
