Aromatic polyimides are a polymer that shows excellent mechanical strength, chemical stability, and thermal resistance because it contains imide structures and aromatic rings in the main chain. Due to these properties, it is emerging as a promising high-tech material in various industries such as aerospace, electric-electronic, circuit boards, automobiles, and solar cells. Commercially used polyimide films are synthesized using toxic organic solvents such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), dimethylformamide (DMF), and dimethylacetamide (DMAc), which are harmful to humans and the environment. However, research on the eco-friendly preparation of flexible polyimide films is very rare. In this study, we present a very simple process for eco-friendly synthesis of polyimide introducing siloxane, which is a flexible structure. This stretchable polyimide film will be a suitable candidate as wearable device substrates that can withstand harsh environments.
